HOW TO CREATE EVANGELIZATION TEAMS IN THE PARISH

Definition:

This presentation offers suggestions to local parishes of how to cultivate an active core of Catholics to serve as ministers of evangelization in their parishes, homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces.

Approach to Implementation:

This two-and-a-half-hour work session includes a PowerPoint presentation, group discussion, and planning to develop leaders as effective evangelizers and organize an evangelization team in the parish.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Pastors, pastoral associates, pastoral councils, people interested in becoming evangelizers, and parish staff will be expected to participate in this session. Parish staff would have the responsibility to provide the location, invite people and take registrations.

Training:

The participants will have the opportunity to get familiar with different helpful tips and tools to be more active in the process of evangelization and to use the different gifts of the members of an evangelization team. The main topics for this session are:

  • Organization of a Parish Evangelization Team
  • Techniques to Invite People to Be Part of the Team
  • Number of Members and Different Functions
  • Network Within the Parish
  • Determine Parish Needs
  • Develop a Plan of Action

Expected Resources:

The Office of Lifelong Faith Formation – Evangelization will provide the training for each participant and a folder with materials, including a handout for evangelization teams and scripts for pulpit and bulletin invitation announcements.
